When I
started on a long sailing voyage down the eastern seaboard, I
had no idea how the experience would change me. When I arrived
back in Canada I had a totally different appreciation for
lighthouses and their true meaning. So I set out to find the
light that had given me great comfort sailing at two a.m.,
after a sudden squall. I stumbled instead onto this old
abandoned lighthouse from the turn or the century. A hundred
years ago, its purpose was to guide sailing ships through this
hand dug channel, that cuts through the base of Long Point
peninsula, saving many lives and miles of sailing.
